Using Purchased Leads
A little advice about using leads that you purchase from another source; These are not opt-in leads per-say, that you have gathered using lead capture pages. They might join your list, but initially this is a whole different animal. First, some basic advice; 1.) Make sure these leads are 'fresh,' no more then a month old. A week is best. 2.) Make sure your leads come with complete data; First and last names, This is PROOF of opt-in. These leads often come on a data spreadsheet and each of the fields has the information described above. In case of complaints, open the spreadsheet the leads came on and search for their Email address or name, by holding down the "ctrl" and "F" keys on your keyboard. (Control-F=Search) A search box will open up where you can type in the search criteria. Click search. Copy and paste the results into your reply. 3) Do not attempt to bulk Email, from your desk top, using your Email provider. There are programs that will try to do this, but this is futile, as your ISP sets a limit on how much you can send. You do not want to use your personal Email address or business address for this purpose! Set-up another mail drop for this type of campaign. For every thousand leads you send, about 10% will get bounced back from people's spam filters. At least 3% will flat-out forget or be un-aware that they signed-up for anything, or thought they were signing up to promote their business , and were not aware that they were giving their E-mail address out for it to be sold. Most people are perfectly cordial about it and simply un-subscribe, if that is their want. As with most all of life, it's that 3% who can cause the problems. Many people load purchased leads into their autoresponder account. The only problems with this, is that spamming has become such a virulent political issue, that many servers will just shut you down ifyou get any spam complaints, hence most programs have a one strike and you're out policy.
